Daniel Ryken – Chiropractor
I was born on the Northern Beaches in Sydney, Australia. I was lucky enough to be born into a fun and loving family and when I turned 14, my parents shared our family home with foster children that continues till today.
Prior to studying to be a chiropractor, I worked in a number of different fields including working with disabled people, teaching music to adults and children, after-school care, and even working as a DJ and MC. During this time I gained a lot of life experience. After completion of my HSC, I like many other school leavers, was searching for my calling in life where I could incorporate the life skills that I had gained.
I was introduced to chiropractic after listening in on a chiropractic lecture at Macquarie University, purely by chance. I was inspired and went on to do some work experience in a busy chiropractic practice in Dee Why. I witnessed a lot of people of all ages receiving adjustments, but one in particular that stood out. I wasn't sure what the chiropractor had done at the time, but I knew I wanted to study it!
Since that day, I went on to do my Bachelor of Chiropractic, and my Masters in Chiropractic science at Macquarie University. I have a passion for treating women throughout all stages of their pregnancy as I believe chiropractic care is very beneficial. I am certified in the Webster's technique, a technique used to adjust ladies through all stages of their pregnancy. In 2008 I completed a postgraduate program in chiropractic paediatrics to further specialise in the treatment of babies and children. I have great confidence in how I practice and am always seeking to improve this through continuing education.
I practice a variety of different chiropractic techniques.
Whilst studying chiropractic, I worked in a chiropractic and osteopathy practice in Manly Vale for five years, where I learnt osteopathy techniques that compliment my chiropractic work. I practised for 4 years in Macquarie Shopping Centre, North Ryde all whilst I established my own practice in North Curl Curl in Sydney's Northern Beaches in 2005.
I have a keen interest in sport, and have played soccer for about 30 years. I have recently decided to blend my love of sports with my practice as a chiropractor, and have started studying a Cert III in personal training.
